RCJ Lines, a bus company that has a handful of Man 18.310 is operating a bus service from Manila to Laoag. But one thing that pops out into your mind whenever you see these buses is the wire mesh that can be soon on their bus' windshield. But why? For an unfortunate reason, RCJ Lines are prone to some hooligans who throw rocks on highways for fun. To make things worse, one driver of RCJ Lines had died because of this kind of incident.
For the safety of their drivers and its passengers, RCJ Lines took the initiative to put a wire mesh as their protection. Fortunately, unlike before, these incidents became rare due to intensive monitoring by the authorities in light from these previous incidents. Bataan Transit, a bus company that plies Central and Northern Luzon gets new buses, the Higer KLQ6123K. Known as the "UTour", the Higer KLQ6123K is one of the most popular buses from the Chinese manufacturer. Notable bus operators like GV Florida, Victory Liner, Super Five Transport and Yellow Bus Line has one of these. In a rare spot from Carl Urvil Bautista, he saw 6 of these that are fresh from delivery. As seen from the photos, the buses has no plate number, nor a conduction sticker, meaning that they just been all the way from China.
It is currently the first UTour of Bataan Transit. It will just take time before they shall unravel our roads. Davao City is now preparing to launch the city's High Priority Bus System (HPBS). This follows a survey a few months ago, asking the Dabawenos if they would agree to have a permanent bus system in the city. To recall, the city had its Peak Hours Augmentation Bus System (PHABS) which was started last February. PHABS only runs during the city's peak hours, unlike the upcoming HPBS would operate the same as what most mass-transport system does like the country's Point-to-Point System. The majority who responded in the survey also suggests that HPBS must be operating 24 hours for the city. Results from the said survey are now being reviewed by the City Government of Davao and the Land Transportation Franchising Regulatory Board (LTFRB). Once reviewed, a special permit will be given to the bus operators, signaling the start of HPBS. Ret. Col. Dionisio Abude of City Transport and Traffic Management Office (CTTMO), said that they had also consulted the local jeepney operators and that they also agree with the city to launch HPBS soon.
"We conducted a survey with the jeepney drivers, and they agree that buses shall take over the city for its mass-transit system," Abude said. Likewise, HPBS shall use low-floor city buses to cater easily to those persons with disabilities (PWD). Each of these buses can accommodate 45 to 60 passengers, a huge boost to decongest the city's traffic. Info source: Brigada News Davao |
